Barcelona, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz. The adolescent has blossomed into one of the Bundesliga's most promising young talents.
According to Calciomercato, Bayer Leverkusen is hesitant to sell Wirtz, but could be persuaded to do so if a possible buyer matches their €150 million estimate.
Florian Wirtz joined Bayer Leverkusen from FC Koln in January 2020. Before being promoted to the senior squad, the teenager put up a number of strong performances for Leverkusen's younger teams. Following the departure of Kai Havertz, who joined Chelsea for £72 million in the summer of 2020, he became a regular starter for Leverkusen. In 31 games in all competitions this season, the teenager has scored 10 goals and contributed 14 assists. Barcelona, Manchester United, and Chelsea have all taken notice of his performances.
Barcelona is undergoing a transformation under Xavi Hernandez. Since taking over the reins at Camp Nou midway through the first half of the season, the Spaniard has turned the team around. The Catalan giants are now in third place in La Liga and have advanced to the Europa League quarter-finals. Xavi is likely to receive financial support from Barcelona during the summer transfer window. The club has identified Florian Wirtz as a possible transfer target. However, because to the Catalan club's precarious financial circumstances, his €150 million price tag could prove to be a huge stumbling block.
Manchester United are getting ready for Paul Pogba's departure this summer. The Frenchman's contract with the club is slated to expire at the end of the season, and he has already turned down multiple contract extension offers. During the January transfer window, Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek joined Everton on loan until the end of the season. This summer, the former Ajax star is set to complete a permanent move away from Old Trafford. Manchester United will almost certainly try to sign a top-tier offensive midfielder.
Florian Wirtz is also thought to be of interest to Chelsea. However, the west London club's off-field problems may stymie their pursuit of the German midfielder. The UK government has placed several economic restrictions on the Blues' Russian owner Roman Abramovich.
